Alex Zlotnikov, COO and Creative Director
Alex Zlotnikov is both a talented print and computer graphic artist, and has solid programming and technical skills and experience with Operating Systems (Windows NT/2000/XP, Macintosh OS 9.2, OS X); Graphics (Adobe Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Freehand, Fireworks MX); Web Coding, Design and Navigation (HTML, DHTML, CSS, Home Site, BBEdit, Flash MX, Dreamweaver MX, MS Visio, Programming: JavaScript, ASP, XML, VBScript, MS-Access); and Content Management Systems (Interwoven TeamSite, FileNet, Vignette StoryServer).
Before co-founding Opportunity Knocks Publishing, provided Web development/design and online graphic arts services to small business clients in New York and in Arizona through his company, AlekseyStudio. He performed all phases of Web site development/design from initial conceptual design through coding, final delivery and client approval, including designing user interface models, menu systems and navigation schemes for Web sites and Web-based applications; usability testing; Search Engine Optimization, including keyword search/selection, meta tags and search engine submission. His print design work included logos, corporate identity and branding, newsletters, newspaper and magazine advertisements, brochures, posters and trade show booth design.
Most notably, Mr. Zlotnikov redesigned the corporate Web site of Spinelli Corporation, a private investigation and litigation support firm headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also maintains the site; creates new pages and navigational links; and adds new features, such as a site map. He has also designed several Flash animation slide shows and E-mail advertisements for the company, as well as a variety of print materials (advertisements, brochures, posters and banners). Mr. Zlotnikov also designed and produces three HTML newsletters for the company that are E-mailed to a nationwide audience that includes clients, attorneys, in-house counsel, top management CEO, COO, CFO, HR, as well as to the membership of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce:
- The Spinelli Report, a monthly that tracks news and trends on such issues as due diligence, regulatory compliance, security programs, theft of trade secrets and white-collar crime;
- Electronic Evidence Examiner, a monthly written by the firm's computer forensics experts and legal staff, which includes summaries of relevant case law, definitions of computer forensic terminology and real-life cases in which a computer forensic investigation uncovered crucial evidence in such matters as embezzlement, partnership disputes and theft of trade secrets; and
- Financial Investigation and Valuation Examiner, a quarterly written by the firm's forensic accountants, business valuation specialists and legal staff, which covers such topics as valuation, transition planning, internal control review, shareholder dispute resolution and other topics, and includes summaries of relevant case law.

User Interface Designer, Avaya Communications. For this Lucent Technologies spin-off, which designs, builds, deploys and manages networks for customers worldwide ranging small businesses to nine out of ten FORTUNE 500 companies to the US government. Mr. Zlotnikov analyzed, organized and designed a new Web site for Avaya that met "best in class" navigation requirements and Web taxonomy, and worked on the global consolidation of Avaya's Web sites after the spin-off, including migrating content and data into the Avaya Enterprise portal - which involved a new layout and design, as well as restructuring of existing data.
- Web Content Manager, First Genetic Trust. For this start-up bioinformatics firm and genetic "bank" to facilitate DNA-based medical and pharmaceutical research, Mr. Zlotnikov managed the graphical user interface design and information architecture development of the online genetic banking application; designed templates, interfaces, demos and style guides; coordinated usability research; created design proposals, flowcharts, prototypes and mock-ups; liaised and worked with development and scientific teams on implementing user-friendly navigation; and was involved in regulatory compliance implementation. He also designed and maintained the corporate Web site and intranet portal, and helped implement the content management system.
- Web Designer/Production Specialist, Office.com. This online small business center jointly owned by Winstar Communications and Viacom/CBS - which provided daily content (news, research, streaming media) covering 140 industries, a multi-million dollar E-commerce application, and a variety of community and business tools - averaged over two million visitors per month. Mr. Zlotnikov designed and implemented new Web pages and sections; streamlined HTML and JavaScript code for existing pages; implemented Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) technology throughout the site; supervised the design and technical aspects of the "Search" function of the Office.com Web site; created graphics for the daily "Feature Story"; and was involved in developing the Office.Com Flash Demo; He worked closely with business development, marketing, and product teams at the highest levels companywide to devise and implement short- and long-term strategies.
- Web/Graphic Designer, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. For one of the most illustrious museums in the world, Mr. Zlotnikov designed and produced educational and advertising materials publicizing a variety of educational and public outreach initiatives, including brochures, posters, newspaper and magazine ads, and direct mail pieces. He also created and maintained the "Concerts and Lectures" section the Museum's Web site, which included converting QuarkXPress files to HTML using CSS to ensure that the design of online and printed materials was consistent.
- Internet Developer/Designer, One Choice Staffing Inc. Mr. Zlotnikov developed this recruiting agency's corporate Web site, and was involved in developing the company's online Resume Management System - an application that enabled candidates to post and update resumes; employers to post job openings; recruiters to enter and modify candidates' information, schedule interviews, add comments, calculate commissions and track customer payments; and multi-variable job searches by employers and candidates. The system implemented dynamically created and updated Web pages, connecting to Microsoft's Access database using ASP and JavaScript.

2004 Spotlight Award/Gold, from League of American Communications Professionals. The Spinelli Report received a Gold Award for Excellence in the Internet - Newsletter/Magazine category in the annual, and was chosen as one of the Top 100 Publicity Materials of 2004 (with a rank of 61) out of 850 print, video and Web entries vying for the honor.
- 2004 Clarion Award/Honorable Mention, from Association for Women in Communications. Electronic Evidence Examiner was recognized in the category, On-line Publication Corporate/For-Profit, based on substance, style, originality and achievement of objective.
- 2003 Spotlight Award/Silver, from League of American Communications Professionals. Electronic Evidence Examiner received two Silver Awards: Excellence in the Internet - Newsletter/Magazine category, and Best Narrative across all categories of competition - print-based, video-based, Internet-based and multimedia publicity materials.
Mr. Zlotnikov graduated from Russia's Moscow Academy of Art with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts, where he was awarded a Gold Medal for Academic Achievement. He also earned an Associate Degree in Design from the Moscow School of Stage Design. Mr. Zlotnikov has also completed various courses in computer graphics from Brookdale College (Lincroft, New Jersey).
